On Wednesday 4 March, we at Global Government Forum took the decision to postpone Innovation 2020 due to concerns about the coronavirus, COVID-19. We can now announce the new dates are 29 & 30 September 2020, Central Hall, Westminster, London.
This has been an extremely difficult decision, and we deeply regret any inconvenience. We understand that many delegates, speakers and partners have already put a lot of effort into preparing for the event, and offer our heartfelt apologies.
However, there are signs that public health guidance may change, with the government’s coronavirus action plan setting out options for delaying the virus’s spread that include ‘population distancing strategies’. As a truly global event, Innovation 2020 could obviously have presented a risk of international transmission. And if public guidance changed or the virus spread substantively in the UK, it could have become vulnerable to very late cancellation – creating far greater disruption and inconvenience for speakers and delegates. Our priority is to protect civil servants and event partners from this outcome, and we thus consider it sensible to reschedule the event for a time when, projections suggest, the virus is likely to have passed its peak.
We hope that postponing Innovation 2020 will enable us to retain the excellent line-up of chairs, panellists and partners scheduled to participate – both from the UK, and our many partner governments overseas – and will be communicating with all speakers, delegates and partners as we quickly develop our plans for the rescheduled event.
We very much hope that you will understand our decision, and will be able to join us at the rescheduled event on 29 & 30 September 2020, at Central Hall, Westminster, London.
Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience.
